always get error message "The requested operation requires elevation" even with domain admin user????
I have a simular issue where I can log into the windows 7 x64 sp1 machine, but I can not get into management utility or change the domain of the workstation. It is currently connected to the domain, but it will not let me into anything that is "high security" item. I can log into the domain controler with the domain admin, but when I use the domain admin on the windows7 x64 professional, it comes back with a message that "c:\windows\system32\systempropertiescomputername.exe. The requested operation requires elevation."... Any ideas on how to resolve this? I can ping the domain controler, I can ping the domain name from the windows 7 workstation. I can log in with the local admin users that I had before I joined this computer to the domain... I just can not get into anything in control panel anymore nor change the domain of the workstation? When prompted for access, I have tried the domain admin, local admin user, and everything else, but it still comes back with "required elevation" message????

1. I do not understant what evidence you expect from pinging. 2. For UAC see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa511445.aspx and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-change-the-behavior-of-User-Account-Control-by-using-the-slider Regards Milos

Thanks Milos, I talked about pinging because I thought someone would say that I have a communications issue or DNS issue. I looked at the links and thank you for the good reading material but my issue is that I can not get into UAC to change the settings, it prompts me for a use password to get into the UAC, but after typing in the admin user/pass, it comes up with the "required elevation" message... It appears I am authentication with the domain on my user credentials, but it will not let me into anything requiring elevation???? Do you understand my issue? I can not change anything on this computer!!! Is there a way I can blow away the domain association WO a re-install? I just want to get into the control panel again WO re-installing the OS! I have tried the Enterprise admin/domain admin/local admin, it accepts the password/username and the elevation message keeps popping up?

Hi, First, would you please let us know when did this issue occur? Have you change some settings before this issue happened? Meanwhile, please try to perform a system restore in WinRE: 1. Boot your computer from a Windows DVD. To do so, insert a Windows 7 installation disk, restart your computer and press any key when prompted. 2. Click "Next," then click "Repair your computer" to bring up the "System Recovery Options" dialog box. 3. Select the Windows operating system you want to repair and click "Next." 4. Click the option labeled "System Restore" to restore your computer through the "Windows Recovery Environment. Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support
